How oil is now extracted at Sazankurak and Mynteke Yuzhny — a new episode of ON THE SHIFT is already on the PetroMining channel

The PetroMining OPO Association visited the Sazankurak LLP field, which is located in the Issatay district, 150 kilometers from the regional center, the city of Atyrau.

One of the first joint ventures in Kazakhstan to begin developing an oil field from scratch in the steppe, where there was previously no housing or necessary infrastructure, became the topic of a new episode of ON THE SHIFT program on the YouTube channel.

In the new video, representatives of the group of companies shared their achievements and challenges with us; share how they managed to increase the recovery factor of the Sazankurak field from 26.2% in 2004 to 43.7% in 2014 and maintain the current oil recovery factor at 41%, and also how the optimal production condition has allowed maintaining the water cut of the field at 88-92% for 16 years, and reducing the rate of decline in production from 12% to 5%.

The Petromining team came here to find out how the necessary infrastructure for production was set up here, a railway line was laid and a shift camp was built in a very short time.

Another peculiarity of the field is that the oil here is quite difficult to extract, differing, among other things, in its abnormal viscosity.

Today, the field is at the fourth stage of development.
Effective geological and technical measures as part of geotechnical jobs are carried out here annually, and new technologies for increasing oil recovery are being introduced.

Apart from Sazankurak LLP, the head of the Petromining association, Sayat Boranbekov, also visited the Mynteke Yuzhny field — Pricaspian Petroleum Company LLP. Its development began among the sands. There was no vital infrastructure, communication lines, or necessary housing.

Trial operation began in 2003, while commercial oil production began in 2008. Mynteke Yuzhny is a small field in terms of its reserves. To date, the company has produced about 500 thousand tons of oil. The actual oil recovery factor is 27% (with a design oil recovery factor of 30%). The average water cut of the field is 80-82%. Reserve recovery is 88%. Currently, the Mynteke Yuzhny field is fully equipped and is at the 3rd stage of commercial production development.
"Satti Meken" includes Sazankurak LLP (Sazankurak field), KHAMAD PARTNERS (Biikzhal field), Precaspian Petroleum Company (Mynteke Yuzhny field), Munaily Meken (Zholdybai and Zhylankabak fields) in the Atyrau region. In total, Sazankurak LLP employs 112 people, 80 of whom work at the production sites. The company's main asset is human capital, so our key task is to ensure safe working conditions, - emphasized the head of Sazankurak LLP Bauyrzhan Abdigali.
The heroes of the new episode are the head of Sazankurak LLP Bauyrzhan Abdigali, Deputy Director for development and production of Sazankurak and Prikaspian Petroleum, Arman Kuntayev, Leading Geologist for oil production, Zhasulan Khametov, Sazankurak Production Foreman, Abilkasym Yesengaliyev, Chief Process Engineer, Amantai Useyev, Head of the Mynteke Yuzhny field Dauren Zhubanov, Senior Geologist for Oil Production at Pricaspian Petroleum, Rashid Tlegenov, Production Foreman at Pricaspian Petroleum, Saylaubay Abirov.

You can learn more about how companies operate, what challenges they face and what solutions they use in their oil production activities in the latest episode of the ON THE SHIFT program on the YouTube channel.
